Therapy dogs are a great way for students at Camosun to relieve some stress

Four volunteer teams, consisting of handler and dog, from the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program will be at the Interurban library on Monday, March 28 at 1:30 p.m. and at the Lansdowne library on Monday, April 4 at 1:30 p.m.

鈥淭he therapy dog visit is a very popular event that the college holds each fall and winter semester,鈥 says Jennifer Stenberg, Library Technician who helped organize the event. 鈥淭he students, and employees, love being able to spend time with the dogs, petting them, and talking to them, their handlers and each other. It鈥檚 a great way for the students to relieve some stress and take a break from studying for exams and preparing term papers.鈥

The therapy dog program is just one of the support services available to Camosun students.

鈥淚t's normal for students to feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to deal with life's challenges,鈥 says Liisa Robinson, a student counsellor with student affairs. 鈥淥ur team of professional counsellors are here to support students and help them stay healthy during their time at the college.鈥
