Students in this two-year 쾱ԱDZDzDzstudy fitness principles, physical fitness training practices, exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription, nutrition, health promotion, lifestyle management, stress management, growth and development and behavioural change.

If you would like to become an advocatefor fitness and healthy living, Kinesiology may be your path to a fulfilling career.
You'll be prepared to design and implement personalized exercise and physical activity programs and lifestyle education programs as personal trainers or other fitness professionals.
Areas of study include the physiological, psychological and biomechanical foundations for physical fitness and movement education that also lead to healthy lifestyle behaviours.
As a student
Our Kinesiology program is delivered at the Interurban campus with some courses engaging in our natural surroundings and with specialist providers in the community. As a Kinesiology student, you will become an integral part of the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education (CSEE) throughout your program.
Applied learning
You’ll connect theory with hands-on practice through interactive classroom, lab and workplace learning environments within clinical, community, sport and recreation settings.
Small class size
With smaller class sizes, you'll get to know your peers and instructors for more in-depth learning, support and camaraderie.
Work experience
Put your skills to work and gain valuable industry experience. You'll have the choice between a 100-hour work experience or 300-hour internship.
After graduation
Graduates of the Diploma in Kinesiology meet the requirements to write the Certified Personal Trainer exam through the (CSEP).
Further study
Graduatesmay be interested in continuing on to complete their degree through our Bachelor of Kinesiology or pursue studies at other institutions in the areas of sport and fitness leadership, health promotion, exercise physiology and kinesiology.

What to expect
The diploma program will take students two years, if choosing full-time study of 5 courses per term.
Year 1
You willcover the basics of human anatomy, psychology, biomechanics, physiology, fitness health and principles. You'll also gain competency in a variety of activities and sports. .
Year 2
You willfocus on fitness and health assessment and the design of exercise prescriptions and you'll have the option of doing an internship.
By the end ofyear two, you may graduate with your Diploma in Kinesiology and/or continue on to complete your Bachelor of Kinesiology degree. As a diploma graduate, you will be eligible to write the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology - Certified Personal Trainer® (CSEP-CPT)exam.
